Of the five Cubs who are in position to advance to the next phase of All-Star voting, left fielder Joc Pederson has made the most gains in the standings over the past week.
Picking up 193,715 more votes since MLB’s first All-Star voting update, Pederson climbed from No. 10 (126,223 votes) among National League outfielders to No. 7 (319,938). He also had a two-homer game against the Marlins in that span.
The top three vote-getters at each infield position (plus catcher) and top nine outfielders advance to Phase 2, which determines the All-Star starters for each squad. Phase 1 voting closes at 3 p.m. CDT Thursday.
Other Cubs in NL finalist position as of Monday include Kris Bryant, who has a comfortable lead in the race among third basemen, Javy Báez, who ranks second among shortstops, Willson Contreras, who maintained his third-place spot among catchers, and Anthony Rizzo, who remains No. 3 among first basemen.
Cubs outfielders Jason Heyward (No. 10 / 263,707 votes) and Ian Happ (No. 11 / 259,052) and second baseman Nico Hoerner (No. 4 / 354,255) are in races for the last finalist spots in their position groups.
