MLB agent Scott Boras says Cubs president Jed Hoyer is well positioned to lead the Cubs in 2021– and beyond.
The Cubs have agreed to terms with free agent pitcher Jonathan Holder, the club announced Thursday.
He joins the team on a one-year $750,000 deal.

The former Yankees reliever spent the first five years of his major league career in New York. This past season Holder, 27, went 3-0 with a 4.98 ERA in 18 games. The Yankees non-tendered Holder’s contract earlier this month, and he joined a strong non-tender class in an offseason defined by financial uncertainty.
The Cubs had bullpen spots open, after Jeremy Jeffress, Andrew Chafin and Ryan Tepera (non-tendered) entered free agency this offseason.
