Javier Báez exited Monday night's game against the Marlins with right groin tightness.

Báez left the game in the top of the 7th inning with a Cubs trainer following a double by Marlins' outfielder Brian Anderson. Nothing in particular stood out from that play, though the injury could have occurred in the fifth inning.

With one out in the fifth, Kris Bryant attempted to start an inning-ending double play. His throw pulled Báez off the base, and while Báez was able to record the out, he had to stretch awkwardly to field Bryant's throw.

"I think that might’ve got him a little bit," manager Joe Maddon said. "I don’t think it’s anything awful, but I’ll find out more."

Tommy La Stella replaced Báez at second base, tagging out Maybin to end the top of the seventh inning.

In addition to his groin injury, Báez had issues with his back cracking on two separate occasions during Sunday's loss against the Cardinals. He said that his back cracks "anytime," though tonight's injury was completely different..

Ultimately, the Cubs led 9-1 when Báez left the game; he started at shortstop and finished the night 1-for-4, hitting a three-run home run in the third inning.
