Pedro Strop hits Yasiel Puig to clear the benches, then calls him ‘stupid' after the game

In the eighth inning of Saturday's Cubs-Reds game, Pedro Strop hit Yasiel Puig with a 3-0 pitch. Puig did not like that.

Puig never took the bat off his shoulder with a 3-0 count, showing he was taking the whole way. Puig took exception to being thrown at, and the benches (and bullpens) cleared.

Watch the video above to see the incident and the drama that ensued.

The sparks didn't stop flying after the Cubs won the game 6-0 though. Strop decided to talk some smack about Puig to reporters after the game.

Mark this is a pitcher-hitter matchup to watch when the Cubs and Reds meet again. On top of tomorrow's series finale, the Cubs and Reds play 10 more times in 2019, including a three-game set just after the all-star break July 15-17.
