A key member of Joe Maddon's 2018 coaching staff will return to the Cubs in 2019, according to a report.

According to ESPN's Jesse Rogers, Brandon Hyde will be back with the Cubs as bench coach in 2019.

Hyde, 45, was reportedly a candidate for the Rangers', Angels', Twins' and Blue Jays' managerial vacancies, according to Jon Morosi.

Hyde joined the Cubs' coaching staff in November 2013. He spent the 2014 as the team's bench coach before being re-assigned to first base coach when Joe Maddon became the Cubs manager in November 2014. Hyde returned to his current bench coach role in 2018 after former bench coach Dave Martinez became the Nationals manager.
