Report: Cubs could get back in touch with Rizzo

Anthony Rizzo remains a free agent almost a week after MLB's lockout ended, and there's a new report connecting him to the Cubs.

Univision's Mike Rodriguez tweeted Tuesday the Cubs could get in contact with Rizzo and his representatives about a potential reunion.

The Cubs traded Rizzo to the Yankees at the trade deadline last summer, ending his tenure with the team after 10 seasons.

Team president Jed Hoyer has said publicly since the deadline the Cubs won't rule out reunions with their former core in free agency this offseason.

However, NBC Sports Chicago's David Kaplan has reported the club has no intentions of pursuing any of their ex-core traded last summer, including Rizzo.

Rizzo has also been connected to the Yankees, both before and after the lockout. MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported Tuesday New York has continued talking to the 32-year-old first baseman.
