Sports Business Insider: Cubs have big all-star potential

Share

Sports Business Insider takes a look at how the Cubs are looking in early voting for the all-star game.

The Cubs own the best record in baseball as we enter the month of June and the hot start has also led to a strong start in the all-star ballots.

If the early balloting results hold up, the Cubs would have five National League starters (Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Ben Zobrist, Dexter Fowler and Addison Russell) and that doesn't include for the potential of starting pitcher Jake Arrieta taking the mound. Free-agent acquisition Jason Heyward also sits fourth in voting among National League outfielders, so he could make a late push into the starting lineup.

The popularity of the Cubs around baseball is among the highest its ever been and it will be interesting to see how many starters from the National League all-star team come from Chicago.
