Marcus Stroman was asked about having enough time to be ready for the season amid a shortened spring training following MLB's lockout.
"I'm always ready," Stroman said Tuesday. "I stay ready, to be honest.
"The second the season's over, I'm right back in the gym," he added. "It's a lifestyle for me.
"It's not just getting ready for the season. I like keeping my body and my mind right no matter what."
He showed off that lifestyle Friday night,
Stroman made his Cubs spring training debut against the Giants and was efficient in two innings. Stroman retired all six batters he faced — three on strikeouts.
He also showed off his big personality, strutting off the mound following the first strikeout and striking a pose after the second

It's just two innings in a spring training game, but you don't get a second chance to make a first impression.
"I can't wait to get out there and build off of last year," Stroman said.
So far, so good.
