Derrick Rose, Patrick Beverly to participate in Skills Challenge during All-Star weekend

Chicagoans: Clear your schedules for All-Star Saturday (Feb. 15). It might not be exactly what we expected entering this season, but there will be Chicago representation at All-Star weekend, and it’s entirely concentrated on that night.

Why? Well, as we know, Zach LaVine is set to participate in the 3-point shootout, which features one of the more star-studded fields in recent memory.

And now, as of Tuesday, we can add two more Chicago sons to spur on, albeit in a different event: Per the NBA, Patrick Beverly and Derrick Rose will participate in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge that same evening.

Here’s a look at the full field:

This legitimately has a chance to be the most entertaining event of the weekend, and Beverly and Rose are obviously a huge part of that. You could even toss ex-Bull Spencer Dinwiddie into the bucket of participants with Chicago ties.

In an exhibition event such as this, it’s probably pointless to break down the probabilities of any one guy winning. But the city of Chicago, at least, will know who to root for.

And if it comes down to those two in a battle for the city’s heart, expect a tad more intensity than this event usually evokes.
