After an active trade deadline that featured widespread roster overhaul, the Bulls hardly get a second to breath. On Saturday looms a road matchup with the Spurs.
Before the team jetted to San Antonio Friday, head coach Billy Donovan said he expects Nikola Vučević, Al-Farouq Aminu, Troy Brown Jr. and Javonte Green to be available for that game.
"They’ll all be available, yup, they’ll be in a position to play," Donovan said.
The one exception is Daniel Theis, who Donovan said will miss the Spurs game while attending to a family matter. Theis is expected to join the Bulls in San Francisco for their road bout with the Golden State Warriors on March 29.
Vučević, Aminu, Brown and Green, meanwhile, all got into Chicago on deadline day, but didn't practice Friday because their respective physicals are pending. Donovan did confirm that none have landed in the league's COVID-19 protocols upon transitioning.
"These guys have been tested at their previous organizations and they were all tested here today," Donovan said. "Nothing's come back in terms of that kind of news that it's been positive or anything as alarming that it's gonna keep them out or quarantine or anything like that."
Donovan said he's spoken to each of the new Bulls individually, beginning the process of getting to know them and acclimating them to the team. As for playing time and rotations, Donovan added that will be a work in progress.
"We don’t really have time, we’ve got to kind of throw ourselves in here and try to figure things out pretty quickly," Donovan said. "I think it's a good group of guys that will be willing to do that, but I don’t think anybody really knows roles yet and how that’s going to fit and work together. It’s something we are going to have to try to figure out.”
