Scottie Pippen delayed surgery because he didn't want to ‘f**k up' his summer

It's hard to pick a best quote from ESPN's "The Last Dance," but if we have to, this one from Scottie Pippen might take the cake:

Pippen had ruptured a tendon in his ankle towards the end of the '96-'97 season, and instead of immediately opting for surgery, Pippen decided to thumb his nose at the Bulls' front office, giving us an all-time quote in the process. Honestly, summer in Chicago is so pristine, it's hard to really blame him.

If you can imagine, MJ wasn't particularly thrilled with the idea, telling ESPN's filmmakers that, “[Pippen] could’ve gotten his surgery as soon as the season was over and been ready for the season. What Scottie was trying to do was force management to change his contract ... "

Pippen's quip is just the latest in a long line of great moments from the first two parts of the 10-episode documentary. There was MJ's snub of Scott Burrell, MJ's weird golf mind games, and MJ forcing Common to forge his signature. And don't forget about the Bulls Traveling Cocaine Circus.
