FIVE THINGS TO WATCH
1. Stringing together wins. The Bulls haven't strung together consecutive victories since Dec. 8 and 10, and that marked the first time they had done so since Nov. 15 and 17. But on Wednesday they've got a prime opportunity to get back there, facing a Nets team that has lost their last 11 games on the road. You have to go back to Nov. 12 to find their last road victory (against the Suns). They're 1-14 on the road.
2. But beware the Nets. It's true Brooklyn is much, much better at home (7-8) than on the road (1-14), but they're coming off perhaps their best victory of the year, an overtime win over the Hornets. They also played the Warriors well for a half last week, so there's reason to believe Kenny Atkinson's group is at least getting a little better.
3. Will Taj Gibson ever miss again? Taj Gibson is in some kind of rhythm offensively. In his last five games he's averaging 13.0 points on 54.5 percent shooting, while scoring double-digit figures in each. Gibson is shooting a career-best 54 percent from the field on nearly a career-high 10.1 shots per game (he attempted 10.9 in 2013-14). He'll get a weak Nets interior he should be able to expose early and often.
4. Getting back to .500. Losing five of six pushed the Bulls below .500 for the first time all year, but they can get back to 16-16 with a win over the Nets. For what it's worth, at this time last year the Bulls were 20-12 and were in the midst of a six-game winning streak. They finished the year 22-28 and miss the postseason.
NBA
5. Stopping Robin Lopez. There's not much going right for Brooklyn these days, but Brook Lopez has been incredible of late. The brother of Bulls center Robin, Brook has averaged 22.1 points on 51 percent shooting, 1.3 triples, 5.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in his last seven games. The 3-pointers have come out of nowhere; after making three 3-pointers in his first eight years combined, Lopez has made 51 shots from deep this year (at a respectable 36 percent clip).
