Former Terps head coach Randy Edsall heading back to old job at UConn

Randy Edsall's four-and-a-half-year tenure at Maryland didn't go so well, but the former Terps head coach is getting another shot at a job he previously held.

Edsall was announced as the new head coach at Connecticut on Wednesday. He was previously the Huskies' head man for more than a decade, from 1999 to 2010.

While at UConn, he compiled a 74-70 record that included at least eight wins and bowl trips in each of his last four seasons, culminating in a trip to the Fiesta Bowl at the conclusion of the 2010 season.

Edsall departed for Maryland right after that game, and things didn't work out as anyone hoped. He amassed just a 22-34 record during his time running the Terps. The team made bowl games in 2013 and 2014 but lost them both. Edsall was fired midway through the 2015 campaign.
