Blackhawks senior advisor of hockey operations and legendary NHL coach Scotty Bowman was among 42 other Canadians to earn the Governor General's highest honor, as he was invested with the Order of Canada Friday.

Bowman, 78, is the winningest coach in NHL history with 1,244 regular-season victories, 223 more in the playoffs and nine Stanley Cup championships -- five with the Montreal Canadiens (1973, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979), one with the Pittsburgh Penguins (1992) and three with the Detroit Red Wings (1997, 1998 and 2002).

The Order of Canada was created in 1967 during Canada's centennial year to recognize a lifetime of outstanding achievement and dedication to the community and service to the nation. Since it began, more than 5,000 people have received the honor.
