Ryan Pace: Bears discussed bringing in Hunt, but “it never got serious”

Bears GM Ryan Pace met with members of the media at the NFL Combine this morning, touching on everything from the draft, to Cody Parkey, and more.

One interesting tidbit from Pace's Q&A came when asked about running back Kareem Hunt.

Hunt, who was cut from the Kansas City Chiefs and placed on the Commissioner Exempt list after being seen on video assaulting a woman, was rumored to be someone the Bears had interest in bringing in.

Pace threw water on those rumors this morning, mentioning that the process never got too far:

"I think with Kareem — did we talk about it? Yes. Was it serious? No.", he said. "And I think every scenario that comes up, we’d do our team a disservice if we didn’t discuss every scenario. We talked about it but it never got serious.

"Anything that comes up, I mean you guys see all the rumors flying around the combine right now, you explore everything. We owe that to ourselves. But for a variety of reasons it never got serious"

Hunt, who goes back with both Matt Nagy and Mitch Trubisky, has been one of the premier running backs in football since getting drafted in 2017. While he may have been a logical fit in Nagy's schematics, concerns about his fit within the culture of the Bears locker room seemingly prevailed.
