Akiem Hicks expected to miss Vikings game

The Chicago Bears defense will be without one of its most important players in their effort to slow Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook.

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, Akiem Hicks is expected to miss the game.

Hicks exited Week 3's game against the Redskins because of his ailing knee and while Matt Nagy expressed optimism about his ability to play earlier in the week, it appears Hicks wasn't able to recover in time.

The Bears promoted rookie DL Jonathan Harris from the practice squad Saturday to add another set of fresh legs to the defensive line, one that's now without both Hicks and Bilal Nichols.

The run-heavy Vikings will probably lean even more on Cook and Alexander Mattison with Hicks sidelined. Cook is averaging 125 yards per game and leads the NFL with 375 rushing yards on the season. He ranks second in the NFL with four rushing touchdowns as well.

Kickoff between the Bears and Vikings is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. CST.
