ARob clears concussion protocol, will play vs. Saints

NBC Sports and Pro Football Talk NFL analyst Chris Simms discusses how giving up play-calling could help Matt Nagy as a head coach, and specifically inject the offense with some badly-needed new ideas and concepts.

The Bears will have a big piece of their offense available against the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field on Sunday.

Wide receiver Allen Robinson has cleared concussion protocol and will play Sunday.

Robinson sustained a concussion in Monday night's loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He didn't practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and his status was downgraded from questionable to doubtful on Friday.

However, head coach Matt Nagy left the door open Friday for Robinson to potentially play, depending on if he cleared protocol.

"I've got to see how that goes with that whole protocol and what they say he can and can't do," Nagy said. "I mean, if he's able to pass through it and everything is good to go, of course we want home to be out there."

The Saints will be without Michael Thomas, their No. 1 wide receiver. Bears center Cody Whitehair (calf) is out, and safety Eddie Jackson (knee), edge rusher Khalil Mack (ankle), defensive back Sherrick McManis (hamstring) and wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (quad) are questionable.
