Bears offense has worst 1st half in 40 years vs. Eagles

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for the Bears offense, it did in the first half of Sunday's Week 9 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Bears finished the first 30 minutes with just nine yards -- total -- against an Eagles defense that was considered vulnerable entering the week. It was their fewest yards in one half in 40 years, per Elias Sports Bureau.

Mitch Trubsky completed 6-of-13 passes for 24 yards. His best play came on a seven-yard scramble that ended in a personal foul penalty and a first down (one of just two the offense has managed to muster so far).

Barring a miraculous turnaround in the second half, the calls for backup quarterback Chase Daniel will hit a season-high this week. The Bears need a spark on offense (or a blowtorch at this point), and that often comes by making a change under center.

Surprisingly, Chicago trails the Eagles by just 12 points (12-0) after 30 minutes.
