Matt Nagy doesn't expect Bears DT Bilal Nichols to land on IR with wrist injury

The Bears avoided losing a key member of their defense to the injured reserve, or so it seems.

Monday, Bears head coach Matt Nagy said Bilal Nichols has a wrist injury, but he doesn't expect the defensive tackle to land on the IR.

Nagy added the Bears will know more about Nichols' status in the next day or two.

Nichols exited Sunday's game against the Broncos in the second quarter with a hand injury. Not only was the 23-year-old ruled out for the rest of the game as a result, but he had a cast on his right hand postgame. The Bears, of course, won 16-14 via a clutch last-second 53-yard field goal from Eddy Pineiro.

Nichols, whom the Bears selected in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, recorded three sacks as a rookie last season.
