Report: Bears could dodge another superstar in Week 8

NBC Sports NFL analyst Chris Simms reacts to the Packers getting trounced by the Buccaneers and breaks down why Green Bay isn’t a slam dunk to win the division over the Bears.

The Bears may miss one of the Saints’ biggest stars when the two teams meet in Week 8. According to Adam Schefter, Thomas’ hamstring injury could keep him out of the game. Thomas suffered the Grade 1 hamstring strain during practice.

Emmanuel Sanders tested positive for COVID-19 last Thursday, so there’s a chance he could miss Week 8 as well, depending on how long it takes him to shed the virus.

Thomas hasn’t played since Week 1 this season, when he suffered a high ankle sprain. He was set to return in Week 5, but was benched for disciplinary reasons after he punched a teammate at practice.

The Bears have dodged some of the best wide receivers they were slated to face this season. In Week 1, Kenny Golladay couldn’t play due to a hamstring injury. Two weeks later, the Bears beat the Falcons without Julio Jones who was dealing with a hamstring injury of his own. Then in Week 5, the Buccaneers were without Chris Godwin while he recovered from a-- you guessed it-- hamstring injury.
