Georgia quarterback and 2020 NFL draft prospect Jake Fromm won't have a consensus evaluation in front offices around the league. Some general managers will reject him because he doesn't have prototype physical measurables, while others will dismiss him because his arm talent is generally average.
But Fromm does possess the traits the Bears could be searching for in a young quarterback capable of challenging Mitch Trubisky this offseason. According to The Athletic's Dane Brugler, Fromm's strengths are Trubisky's weaknesses right now:
Fromm is a challenging evaluation because he won’t be for everyone with his lack of ideal physical traits (arm, size, athleticism), but he is above average in the two most important categories at the position: accuracy and mental processing, projecting as an NFL starter in the right scheme.

Matt Nagy challenged Trubisky to become a master of coverages this offseason. Fromm is already there.
Fromm, who finished his UGA career with a 36-7 record, eliminates things quickly to work from read one to read two to read three and understands the “why” and “where” with his progressions, which will endear him to NFL coaches.
The Bears won't be in a position to select any of this year's first-round quarterback prospects, a list of names which include Joe Burrow (LSU), Justin Herbert (Oregon) and Jordan Love (Utah State). Instead, it's the second tier of quarterbacks who Ryan Pace will have to decipher between in order to determine if QB-next is within reach. Fromm, Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma) and Jacob Eason (Washington) will be in that mix.

Chicago can't get caught up in how pretty a pass looks, how physically imposing a prospect appears or how well they move in a t-shirt and shorts. Instead, find the guy who can read a defense and throw with accuracy and efficiency. That's all Nagy needs. He had it with Alex Smith in Kansas City and the results spoke for themselves.
Fromm could be that guy, even if he isn't a pick that will fire up the fanbase all that much.
