WATCH: Lovie Smith wows Pat McAfee with basketball shot

Former Bears head coach Lovie Smith is well known in Chicago for his dominant defense, charming drawl and his legacy as the first Black head coach to lead a team to the Super Bowl. But now he might be known for his sweet midrange shot too.

Looks like someone has been keeping up with the Bulls and watching DeMar DeRozan tape.

While Smith didn’t get much lift off the ground, he still got nothing but net from the free throw line, earning cheers from onlookers, including former Colts punter and current football analyst Pat McAfee. The MJ-esque shrug after the shot was top-notch too.

Smith coached the Bears from 2004-2012, leading the team to an 81-63 record. After two years coaching the Buccaneers, Smith returned to Illinois to leading the Fighting Illini, from 2016-2020. Last season Smith was the Houston Texans associate head coach and defensive coordinator. After the Texans fired former head coach David Culley, they decided to promote Smith to the top job.
