Will the Bears finish above .500 in 2020?

It's way too early to bet with any confidence on how many wins a team will have in the 2020 NFL regular season. There's so much roster management left to be done with re-signings, free agency and the 2020 NFL draft all on the horizon. But that won't stop the experts in Las Vegas from setting the over/under on each team's win totals.

For the Bears, 2020 could be a repeat of 2019.

The magic number for the Bears is eight. If they hit the over, there's a strong chance they'll be in the playoff hunt come December. As for the under? There's a good chance Chicago will be searching for a new head coach and general manager if they're a seven-win team or worse..

It's worth noting the lack of confidence oddsmakers have in the Bears competing for the NFC North crown, too. Both the Vikings and Packers are set at 9.5, while the Lions bring up the rear at six wins.

This might be the best thing for the Bears even if the sting of disappointment remains from last year. Entering 2020 with average-to-below-average expectations will alleviate most of the pressure they played under throughout the 2019 regular season.

The roster is very talented. This is a Super Bowl-worthy defense. And if they enter next season with a chip on their shoulder, the Bears may actually fulfill the upside that was anticipated in 2019.
