Blackhawks reveal lineup for final 2019 home preseason game

In their final home preseason game of 2019, the Blackhawks are bringing out their stars. And the lineup is close to what it may look like on Opening Night.

Here's the full 20-man roster for Wednesday's tilt against the Washington Capitals, who are sending stars Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin, among others:

Forwards (12):

— Drake Caggiula
— Ryan Carpenter
— Alex DeBrincat
— David Kampf
— Patrick Kane
— Dominik Kubalik
— Alex Nylander
— Brandon Saad
— Andrew Shaw
— Dylan Strome
— Jonathan Toews
— Anton Wedin

Defensemen (6):

— Adam Boqvist
— Erik Gustafsson
— Duncan Keith
— Slater Koekkoek
— Olli Maatta
— Brent Seabrook

Goaltenders (2):

— Corey Crawford
— Collin Delia

Judging by the most recent line rushes, Caggiula is expected to play on the top line with Toews and Nylander while Kane will get a crack with DeBrincat and Strome on the second line. The third line of Saad-Kampf-Kubalik will stay the same and the fourth line will be made up of Wedin-Carpenter-Shaw.

The healthy scratches will be Perlini, Saarela and Smith, all three of whom are competing for roster spots. Kirby Dach (concussion protocol) and John Quenneville (hip) remain sidelined with injuries.

On the back end, the top four is expected to stay the same: Keith with Gustafsson and Maatta with Seabrook. Boqvist and Koekkoek will serve as the third pairing.

The Blackhawks leave for Europe on Thursday and it's possible they'll trim their roster one more time before then.

“The guys who are in, it’s another chance to leave an impression,” coach Jeremy Colliton said. “But those decisions aren’t final, either. There are going to be changes through the year, so we tell these guys, you build a body of work and ultimately you earn what you get. ... But those guys who would consider themselves bubble guys, or course it’s a chance to leave one more impression.”
