Brian Campbell was one of the key acquisitions that helped turn the Blackhawks into a contender after years of missing the playoffs. Now, the Blackhawks are honoring him for his contributions to the team.

Campbell will be honored with “One More Shift” ahead of Thursday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Blackhawks announced. Campbell will be alongside the team during the national anthem in full gear.

The 40-year-old is now a player development coach for the Blackhawks. He joined the team as a free agent ahead of the 2008-09 season. That season he was second on the team with 45 assists and helped the Blackhawks break a five-year playoff drought and make it to the conference finals for the first time in 14 years.

The following season, the Blackhawks won their first Stanley Cup since 1961. Campbell spent three years with the Blackhawks during that stint before closing out his career with the team in 2016-17.
