Corey Crawford to start in goal for Blackhawks' home opener vs. Sharks

Coach Jeremy Colliton confirmed Thursday after morning skate that Corey Crawford will start between the pipes in the Blackhawks' home opener against the San Jose Sharks. The decision isn't surprising, given he's a two-time Stanley Cup champion in this city.

Crawford gave up four goals on 38 shots for a save percentage of .895 in Friday's 4-3 season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Flyers in Prague. He allowed one goal on the power play, three goals at even strength and stopped seven of eight high-danger chances at 5-on-5, according to Natural Stat Trick.

Crawford possesses strong numbers against the Sharks. In 18 career games, he has a 9-5-3 record with a 2.35 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.

With Crawford starting Thursday, you have to believe Robin Lehner will make his season debut on Saturday when the Blackhawks welcome the Winnipeg Jets to town.
