School: Glenbrook South
2018-19 record: 24-9 (4-6 in the Central Suburban South)
Postseason results: Lost to Evanston in Class 4A sectional semifinals
Players to watch: Senior forward Dom Martinelli will be one of the best players in the area this season following a monster junior campaign that saw him average 24.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. College coaches have been slow to offer the 6-foot-5 Martinelli but he's one of the state's most productive players. Sophomore guard Coop Noard impressed with his play this summer showing advanced poise and perimeter shooting.
Why they're in the power rankings: Glenbrook South is losing a lot of senior experience from last season's breakout 24-win campaign. But Martinelli can single-handedly carry the Titans offensively on many nights while the team's defense and role players were impressive during the summer. Playing a difficult summer schedule, Glenbrook South finished 29-8 as expectations are there for another potential 20-win season and regional title.
Did you know? Last season's 24-win effort was the first 20-win season (and second winning season) at Glenbrook South since 2006. Now, head coach Phil Ralston will attempt to bring sustained success to the program like he did at previous stop Geneva.
