School: Mundelein
2018-19 record: 20-12, 6-8 North Suburban
Postseason results: Lost to Deerfield in Class 4A regional finals.
Players to watch: Junior point guard Conor Enright is one of the state's premier floor generals. The 6-foot-1 Enright has already started two seasons on varsity for the Mustangs as he's committed to Drake. Fellow junior Scottie Ebube, a 6-foot-8 interior menace, put up 17.1 points and 10.4 rebounds per game last season -- both team highs -- as he's one of the area's best post players. Jack Bikus, a junior guard, is a very solid third guard who can score, defend and handle.
Why they're in the power rankings: Although Mundelein will rely mostly on juniors and a younger roster, the team has legitimate mid-major Division I talent at point guard and center while guards like Bikus and Trey Baker make for perfect complimentary pieces for the Mustangs. Already winning 20 games last season, this more physically mature team from last season had some strong stretches of play this summer.
Did you know? The Mustangs were one of the North suburb's premier programs earlier in the decade with three consecutive regional titles (2011-2013) but the program hasn't achieved a regional title since then.
