Preps Basketball Power Rankings: No. 16 Fenwick

Share

School: Fenwick

2018-19 record: 17-14 (8-7 Catholic League Blue)

Postseason results: Lost to Curie in Class 4A regional finals.

Players to watch: Bryce Hopkins is coming off of a monster summer. The junior forward became a top-100 national prospect and earned high-major scholarship offers from all over. The 6-foot-6 forward is one of the area's best scorers. The sophomore class for the Friars is also promising. Point guard Trey Pettigrew could make a big splash this season while Gabe Madej played well this fall.

Why they're in the power rankings: Inconsistent at times during the June period, Fenwick is going to have some rough patches with a younger team. But the talent is there for the Friars to potentially be elite by the end of the season with Hopkins emerging as a serious first-team All-Area candidate.

Did you know? The Friars will test themselves with one of the area's strongest schedules this season. Fenwick will play at Proviso West during the holidays, the Chicago Elite Classic (OPRF), When Sides Collide (Rolling Meadows), Simeon, and a full Catholic League schedule.
