Bears reportedly sign wide receiver Bennie Fowler

When the Bears did not match the offer sheet Cam Meredith signed with the New Orleans Saints, it opened up an extra need at wide receiver.

It appears the Bears have filled that need.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Bears signed Bennie Fowler to a one-year deal. Fowler was with the Denver Broncos in his first three years in the NFL and totaled five touchdowns and 56 receptions.

Last season the Michigan State product had 29 catches for 350 yards and three touchdowns.

With Allen Robinson expected to be the Bears' top receiver, Fowler joins a group with fellow offseason addition Taylor Gabriel and the oft-injured Kevin White as the pass catchers expected to round out top targets for second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
