Adam Warren found out about trade to Cubs while watching TV on vacation

Adam Warren may have been a bit surprised to have been traded to the Cubs earlier this month, but the way he found out couldn't have surprised him more.

Warren, who was acquired by the Cubs in a deal that sent Starlin Castro to the New York Yankees, had turned off his cell phone while he and his wife vacationed in St. Lucia, where he noticed on television that his former team had been involved in a trade.

Little did Warren know he was part of it.

"Our biggest rule when we go out of the country is to turn your phone off, put them into the safe in the room, and basically get away from technology," Warren said during a recent interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM. "... Of course, we were in the one spot that night that had a TV and I see the bottom line on ESPN, 'Yankees trade with the Cubs.' I'm like, 'Hmm, I need to figure out who was in this deal,' I had my wife's old phone just to take pictures with and it didn't even have service but we connected it to Wi-Fi and sure enough, my name was in the trade."

"We were actually talking to some people and about 30 minutes later we walked out of the restaurant and my wife just started bawling. I was not really sure what to do. We stayed up pretty much all night trying to figure out what to do. Going through all the scenarios and just trying to process the feeling."
