How J-Hey prompted Trevor Bauer to consider new role

Trevor Bauer, the reigning NL Cy Young champ, is off to a fine start with his new team, the World Series Champion Dodgers.

But he hit a bit of a speed bump Tuesday night at Wrigley Field, thanks to a blast from Jason Heyward.

It made him consider a new role later on this summer:

That’s right, batting practice pitcher at the Home Run Derby in Denver later this summer.

J-Hey took Bauer on a 106 mph exit velocity ride to right center, giving the Cubs the lead. The 391-foot blast was Heyward’s third round-tripper of the season.

We wonder if the ever-affable social media guru Bauer will make a more-serious pitch (pun intended?) for the role as the ‘Derby gets closer.

One thing’s for certain: we can’t wait to watch Home Run Derby balls fly out of Coors Field later this summer.
