Notre Dame says Greg Bryant won't play in 2015

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly announced Tuesday junior running back Greg Bryant will not play for the Irish during the 2015 season.

“There are certain expectations within our program that must be met on a daily basis,” Kelly said in a statement. “Quite simply, Greg did not meet those expectations.”

Irish Illustrated’s Pete Sampson reported Bryant was ruled academically ineligible. Bryant, a former five-star recruit from Delray Beach, Fla., will remain on scholarship and can practice with Notre Dame but will not have a place on the football roster.

Bryant rushed for 289 yards on 54 carries with three touchdowns in 2014.

Additionally, junior linebacker Michael Deeb and junior tight end Michael Heuerman have been ruled medically disqualified. They’ll remain on scholarship and at Notre Dame but will not count toward the NCAA's 85-scholarship limit.

With these moves, Notre Dame now has 84 players on scholarship. The status of fifth-year defensive lineman Ishaq Williams, who was suspended for the 2014 season due to academic dishonesty, remains unresolved.
