The Chicago Blackhawks have given general manager Stan Bowman a three-year contract extension that will run through the end of the 2015-16 season, the team announced Tuesday morning.

Bowman, 38, is about to start his 11th season with the Blackhawks.

I am very proud of the direction that Stan has taken our hockey operations group in from the moment he took over the role, Blackhawks Team President and CEO John McDonough said.

Bowman has locked up several core players for the Blackhawks, including Patrick Sharp, who signed a five-year extension in early August. He also signed head coach Joel Quenneville through the 2013-14 season.
