Kenwood Academy head coach Sinque Turner earlier this week had two of his top Class of 2021 names make college decisions.
The Broncos’ junior three star-ranked wide receiver Dante Reynolds (6-foot-0, 175 pounds) and junior three star-ranked all purpose back Lewis Bond (6-foot-0, 194 pounds) both gave Boston College their verbal commitment.
Reynolds and Bond had over a dozen offers from the likes of Ole Miss, Nebraska, Memphis, Syracuse and Southern Miss before deciding to commit to the Eagles.
St. Laurence junior cornerback recruit Aaron Wofford (6-foot-1, 165 pounds) decided to give Western Michigan his verbal commitment on Wednesday night.
"Western Michigan brought me in and made me feel like a part of the family right away," Wofford said. "They recruited me the hardest out of any other school and I feel great about my decision."
Wofford discussed why he decided to give the WMU Broncos an early verbal commitment.
"I really had my heart set on Western Michigan pretty early on," he said. "It's a great school and football program and it's just a great overall fit for me. I also just didn't want to drag anything out when I already knew which school I wanted to play for in college. WMU recruited me as a defensive back and they feel I'll be a great fit for the defense. I also just didn't want to worry about recruiting and I can just focus now on the team and my senior season instead of my recruiting."
Loyola Academy junior defensive end Brandon Svets (6-foot-5, 230 pounds) has also seen his recruiting stock take off this spring, adding nine scholarship offers and growing.
"My latest offers are from SIU and Cornell," Svets said. "It's been pretty crazy lately and I now have added 7 offers over the past 10 days. It's pretty amazing and exciting."
Svets who is now holding nine scholarship offers points towards a few key reasons why his recruiting stock has taken off.
"Coach (John) Holecek has really been getting my name out there. The feedback from the college coaches has been pretty positive. They all like my junior tape and they also are excited about my weight gain. I've added around 30 pounds since last year and I feel much stronger compared to last season. I'm eating around five thousand calories a day and I've added a ton of protein into my diet and that's made a huge difference."
Vernon Hills has two Division-1 scholarship football players so far this spring in junior TE Justin Morris (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) and junior LB Jackson Wiegold (6-foot-2, 215 pounds).
Morris, who added his latest offer earlier this week from Eastern Michigan, now has offers from the Eagles along with Ball State, EIU, Bucknell and Georgetown.
Wiegold, who recently added new offers from Ball State and Western Illinois, now has offers from D2 Minnesota State, Concordia St. Paul and Winona State.
