Eduardo Escobar showed only a few flashes of power while splitting time Winston-Salem and Birmingham during the regular season. The Venezuelan native displayed some pop on Monday, though, for the Sags in a 6-3 victory over visiting Phoenix.

Escobar had three hits, including a three-run homer in the seventh inning that broke open what was a close contest, and scored twice. He pushed his average to .375 6-for-16 through five games. The long ball and the RBIs were his first of the season.

Jared Mitchell went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, his second of the season.

Anthony Carter made his second appearance of the season, pitching a scoreless inning to earn his first save. Carter has yet to allow a hit and has struck out five in his two innings of work.
Mesa Solar Sox Cubs
Josh Vitters went hitless in four at-bats as the Solar Sox dropped a 4-2 decision in 10 innings to the Peoria Javelinas.
