The playoffs start now for the Bears. And it just so happens Sunday's Week 9 game is against the same opponent they faced in the 2018 wild card round.
Chicago is seeking revenge against an Eagles team that escaped with an undeserving victory at Soldier Field last January when kicker Cody Parkey missed what should've been a game-winner for the Bears. Instead, the loss sent Chicago into an early offseason that was headlined mostly by the expected development of quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
That development has been more of a regression this season. Trubisky's completing 64.6 percent of his passes, which appears solid on paper, but the film tells a completely different story. His completions have amounted to just 1,092 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions, and two of his touchdown passes can be dismissed as garbage-time numbers.

So, yeah, he's been pretty awful. But the Bears' struggles aren't his alone. The offensive line and playcalling haven't done him any favors, and even the defense has shown signs of weakness during Chicago's three-game losing skid.
But if the Bears are going to be taken seriously as contenders via some miraculous turnaround in 2019, it'll start (and end) with Trubisky, who has what may be his most favorable matchup of the year Sunday in Philadelphia. The Eagles have the 21st-ranked pass defense and have been vulnerable to big plays downfield. Shots will be there for the taking.
It's now or never for Mitch and the Bears. So, you better be watching.
