As my colleague John “Moon” Mullin pointed out here, the thing to remember as we’re only hours into the Matt Nagy era: We don’t know how this is going to play out. This is worth re-iterating as we begin to look at the 16th coach in Bears history.
But if you're into glass-half-full takes, start in Kansas City. That's where Nagy's been since following Andy Reid there from Philadelphia in 2013, and here’s a glowing report about him from Kansas City Star Chiefs beat reporter Terez Paylor:
Anyway, Bears fans, nothing is certain in the NFL, but I think Nagy, because of his personality and playcalling knack, is one of the best head coaching candidates Reid has had in Kansas City (better than the Eagles’ Doug Pederson), and I think your team made a good hire. Take that for it’s worth.

Check out Paylor’s full story for some good stuff in there, specifically from quarterback Alex Smith, on what made Nagy such a good offensive coordinator. Expect Nagy to install some run-pass option concepts for Mitchell Trubisky in what’s sort of a modified, modern west coast offense with some “spice,” as Smith said.
Smith, for what it’s worth, had a career-best 104.7 quarterback rating and career-low 1.0 interception percentage this year — both of which were best in the NFL.
Moon and I discussed Paylor's article and more on a special "the Bears have a coach!" edition of the Under Center Podcast on Monday:
