Prairie Ridge's Samson Evans commits to Iowa

Prairie Ridge junior Samson Evans (6'1", 190 lbs.) ended his recruiting process earlier Sunday, giving the Iowa Hawkeyes his verbal commitment.

"I just felt that Iowa was the best fit for my future," Evans, a three-star recruit, said. "It was something that was dwelling on me, and I didn't want to drag it on any longer than I had to. Iowa was a perfect fit for me and I knew that there wasn't much more of a reason to wait."

Evans, who led Prairie Ridge to the Class 6A State title in 2016 at quarterback, was offered and recruited by Iowa as a wide receiver.

"They (Iowa) see me starting out as an outside receiver," Evans said. "They will work me in there and then potentially in the future I'll be an inside slot receiver."

Evans is now the sixth known verbal commitment in the Iowa Hawkeyes Class of 2018 and joins Prairie Ridge teammate Jeff Jenkins -- a three-star offensive guard recruit -- as the second Land of Lincoln player to pledge to Iowa.
