Just when you think the Chicago Bears quarterback situation was beginning to crystallize, it isn't. Thus is life in free agency's legal tampering period.
The Bears and free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater were reportedly in negotiations for a contract that would pay the former New Orleans Saints backup upwards of $21 million per year, but those rumors have since cooled. Now, Chicago has turned its attention to the trade market, with two familiar names rising to the top: Nick Foles and Andy Dalton.

The Bears have been dubbed logical trade partners for both the Jaguars and Bengals throughout the offseason because of the connections between both Foles and Dalton and Chicago's coaching staff. Jacksonville appears ready to move forward with Gardner Minshew as their starting quarterback and Cincinnati will soon anoint Joe Burrow as the face of the franchise.
As a result, both Foles and Dalton can be had; or, at least we think.
If the asking price for Foles is a second-round pick, expect the Bears to walk away. Instead, it's more likely Ryan Pace will use a fourth-round pick as trade bait for one of the two established veteran starters.
And just think: the fun is only just beginning.
