Bears draft safety Jaquan Brisker with second pick

With the No. 48 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Bears selected Jaquan Brisker, a safety out of Penn State.

Over three seasons with the Nittany Lions, Brisker played in 34 games, notching 151 tackles, with five interceptions and one fumble recovery.

Ryan Poles doubled down on defense after drafting Kyler Gordon with the team’s first pick of the night. Many fans hoped the Bears would add weapons for Justin Fields on offense, but instead Matt Eberflus will receive reinforcements as he rebuilds the defense. According to PFF, Brisker spent time lining up in the slot and in the box in addition to playing deep, so he provides some versatility as well.

The Bears are slated to pick next at 71, but there’s a chance Poles opts to trade down to add more draft capital.
