The Chicago Bears had an eventful 2020 NFL draft. They added two need players in the second round with the selections of tight end Cole Kmet and cornerback Jaylon Johnson, and swung on upside during Day 3 with edge rusher Trevis Gipson and wide receiver Darnell Mooney.
But which pick was the best in class?
According to Pro Football Focus, that distinction belongs to Johnson.

Favorite: CB Jaylon Johnson, Utah (50)
Johnson is one of the feistiest cornerbacks in the draft class and an exceptional fit for a zone-heavy team like the Bears.
As for the other end of the spectrum, PFF wasn't impressed by the selection of Kmet.
Least Favorite: TE Cole Kmet, Notre Dame (43)
Kmet has very few reps on his tape that show him getting open one-on-one rather than a result of being schemed space. That’s concerning for a top-50 pick.
In an ideal world, the Bears will hit on both of their second-round picks. But even if just one of them becomes a long-term quality starter in Chicago, it'll qualify as a win.

This much we know for sure: Both Kmet and Johnson will have a huge opportunity for playing time In 2020. With tight and cornerback in a state of flux, there's room for a rookie to emerge and become one of the team's critical playmakers next season.
